In 2004, supported by the State Scholarships Foundation, he received his postgraduate diploma (MPhil) from the University of the West of England in the field of control systems and then received his PhD from the Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL), England, which is the research branch of the same University. His thesis focused in the scientific area of artificial intelligence implementations for controlling actuation and autonomous systems. In 2018 he received a Post-Doc Certificate from the University of Thessaly for his research on the development of motion design algorithms for autonomous mechatronic space surveillance vehicle and wireless image transfer with a combined use of micro-cameras. Additionally, since 2015, he holds a training certificate for “Radiography Interpretation – Level II” with “Non-Destructive Testing” methods from the British Institute. He has participated in several international and domestic research projects, one of them successfully received a Patent Certificate from the Greek Industrial Property Organization, under the title, “Autonomous polymorphic test base for laboratory training in robotics and micro-controllers”. His publication portfolio includes more than 150 research papers published in international journals and conference proceedings. He is the Director (2020) of the Research Lab “Industrial Systems and Mechatronics Applications” of the Dept. of Industrial Design and Production Engineering. He is also the Director of 2 Postgraduate Programs of Studies of the same Dept., "Unmanned Autonomous and Remote Controlled Systems” (2021), “New Technologies in Shipping and Transport” (2018), and Deputy Director of 1 Postgraduate Program of Studies, “Industrial Automation and Services” (2018).
