The Department of Industrial Design and Production Engineering of the University of West Attica encourages and offers the opportunity of undertaking postdoctoral research in subjects that fall within the interests of the Department and its Research Laboratories, in accordance with the principles set out in the "Regulations for Postdoctoral Research at the University of West Attica"  (available in Greek).

Postdoctoral research is defined as the research undertaken by holders of a Doctoral Degree, with the objective of resolving specific scientific problems and developing new research directions in cutting-edge fields.

The main objectives of postdoctoral research at the University of West Attica are as follows:

  • To encourage new scientists capable of contributing to the advancement of science, research and its applications, especially in cutting-edge fields and to promote the University of West Attica as an institution supporting new scientists, 
  • To extend the results of the researchers' Doctoral Thesis to new scientific directions of interest to the research groups of the University,
  • To enhance the quality of scientific research as well as the dissemination of its results and expertise.

Postdoctoral Research is conducted under the supervision of a faculty member (Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor) of the Department of Industrial Design and Production Engineering, whose field of knowledge or scientific work is within the same or similar scientific field to the Postdoctoral Research.

The time frame of the Postdoctoral Research cannot be less than twelve (12) months from the date of its acceptance and approval by the Department and in any case not longer than three (3) years.

Upon completion of the Postdoctoral Research, a Postdoctoral Research Certificate is issued, indicating the University, the Department, the full name of the Researcher, his/her father's name, the subject of the research, the period of its conduction, as well as the name and status of the supervisor. The certificate is signed by the Head of the Department and is under no circumstances to be considered as a degree.
