Vassilis Papadakis

Assistant Professor

Dr. Vassilis Papadakis is an Assistant Professor at the University of West Attica. He has more than 20 years of experience in research and education in Greece and abroad. He has worked and lectured as a researcher at the Technical University of Delft, the Foundation for Research and Technology, the University of Crete, and the Hellenic Mediterranean University in topics related to diagnosis and imaging. He holds one PhD in spectral imaging of surfaces from the Medical School of University of Crete, and a second PhD on behavioral monitoring by means of Computer Vision, from the School of Science and Engineering of the University of Crete. His specialization is on the development of novel diagnostic methods using imaging and spectroscopic techniques, as also on the application of those in material surfaces to monitor and quantify stresses of material inhomogeneities. He has published more than 55 papers in international journals and more than 50 conference presentations.

Research Interests

  • In-vivo optical, spectroscopic, diagnostic imaging techniques (spectral imaging, molecular imaging, Raman spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, fluorescence imaging, interferometry).
  • Analysis, differentiation and characterization of materials spectral characteristics.
  • Design, analysis and development of optoelectronic information systems and computer vision techniques.
  • Dynamic study of surfaces by the use of non-destructive optical techniques.
