cv Full CV

Dimitrios Dimogianopoulos holds a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (University of Patras, Greece, 1995), a Diplôme d’Etudes Approfondies in Systems Control (Université de Technologie de Compiègne- U.T.C, France 1996) and a PhD degree in Adaptive Control of Linear Time-Varying Systems (U.T.C, 1999). He is a Professor at the Department of Industrial Design and Production Engineering, University of West Attica, Greece. He has served as a contractual researcher at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, UMR 6599 HEYDIASYC (France, 2002-2003), as an adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Technological Education Institute of Lamia (Greece, 2006-2010), and as a research associate at the Stochastic Mechanical Systems and Automation Laboratory (2003-today).
His research interests are in the area of identification, control and fault diagnosis of stochastic systems with emphasis in mechanical and aerospace applications. Furthermore, he has been actively involved in the development of contact-less magnetoelastic sensors which may be used, along with purposely tuned algorithmic methodologies, for diagnosing internal damage in composite materials. He has also been active in the development of novel methodologies and devices for assessing key mechanical attributes (and, thus, quality) of flesh in fish products. Dr Dimogianopoulos has initiated joint research with higher education (Technological Education Institute of Larissa Greece, Hellenic Army Academy) or research institutes (Hellenic Centre for Marine Research, Athens, Greece). He has, also, participated in several EU-funded research projects related to health/quality diagnosis in aerospace applications, composite materials and aquaculture products. Following this activity, he holds (with Dr. Grigorakis) a national patent on a non-destructive methodology for the direct computation- evaluation of key mechanical characteristics in fish flesh (filled with the Greek Industrial Property Organization, 2017), and has (co-)authored over 50 technical papers in international journals, conference proceedings and books.

Research Interests

  • Identification and (non)linear control of stochastic systems.
  • Adaptive control of linear time-varying systems.
  • Stochastic fault detection - health monitoring methodologies with applications in aerospace, biomedical, food engineering, composite polymer structural systems
  • Development of contact-free sensor systems.
